Kernersville Little Theatre

The support provided by the Kernersville Foundation provided enough funds to cover the book cost of $3800 for our annual Bring a Book to Life production. KLT provided a brand-new book for each of the approximately 690 students attending Kernersville Elementary School, a Title I school. The remaining funds assisted with the acquisition of the director and stage manager, as well as set and props needed to produce the production of The Phantom Tollbooth. This production is presented not only to the students and teachers of KES but also to the general public.

The services Kernersville Little Theatre provides with the awarded funds are important to the community, as they help our non-profit organization produce a show that can be enjoyed not only by students but also by local families. Their attendance can spark a love of the theater and the arts, and spark in them a desire to be a part of something larger than themselves. In addition, it encourages children to read. Arts in the community enhances the quality of life in Kernersville. Patrons do not have to travel out of town to see a great performance put on by people they know and love. Giving an outlet to those that want to share their love of acting and the theatre in a small community is a way for them to not only pursue their hobbies, but to entertain and give back to the community they are a part of.
