Does Your Organization Qualify for a Kernersville Foundation Grant?
The Kernersville Foundation is a community-focused grantmaker with a clear and specific mission: to support nonprofit organizations that serve Kernersville residents. Before investing time in an application, we encourage prospective applicants to review these guidelines carefully to determine whether your organization and project are a strong fit.
The Foundation is a growing community organization with limited but expanding resources. The amount available for grants varies from year to year based on fundraising and investment returns. We encourage prospective applicants to review our most recent Impact Report to get a realistic sense of current grant levels and the types of projects we have prioritized.
BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for a grant, your organization must meet all of the following criteria:
501(c)(3) Status
Your organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. New applicants will be required to provide a copy of your IRS determination letter confirming this status.
Kernersville Presence and Service Area
We fund organizations that have a physical presence in Kernersville and serve residents within the 27284 ZIP code. We do not fund organizations that serve the broader region without a direct Kernersville footprint.
Alignment with Community Needs
Our highest funding priority is projects that meet human needs – food, shelter, safety, health, and education. As the Foundation grows, we anticipate broadening our focus, but organizations whose work addresses direct human services will receive the strongest consideration in the current grant cycle.
WHAT WE DO NOT FUND
The Foundation does not currently consider requests for:
- Fundraising events
- Sponsorships or memberships
- Advertising or promotional materials
- Capital campaigns
- Endowment campaigns
- Annual fund campaigns
- Political or lobbying activities
