About The Kernersville Foundation
Kernersville has always been a community that looks out for its own. The Kernersville Foundation exists to make that sentiment last – not just for this year, but for generations to come.
Founded in 1999 through the vision and generosity of the Rotary Club of Kernersville, the Foundation was designed from the start as a permanent gift to this community. Charter member Arnold King and the Rotary Club believed that Kernersville deserved its own dedicated philanthropic engine. One that would grow alongside the town and respond to its needs year after year. That belief has proven right.
What We Do
The Kernersville Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn entirely from the Kernersville community. Our mission is straightforward: to provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations that serve Kernersville residents.
Each year, we distribute grants totaling $100,000–$175,000 to local nonprofits addressing the community's most pressing needs, from hunger and housing stability to education, mental health, historic preservation, and more. Our board brings firsthand knowledge of local conditions and organizations, ensuring that every grant dollar is directed where it will do the most good.

A Foundation Built to Last
With assets now exceeding $3.8 million and a growing roster of supported organizations, the Foundation has the stability to weather difficult years – like 2025, when some donor income shifted to Hurricane Helene relief – and continue serving the community. The addition of Executive Director Bruce Boyer as our first full-time staff member in 2024 marked an important milestone in our capacity to grow, raise awareness, and serve our donors and grantees more effectively.
