The Salvation Army

Community Impact (2025) In 2025, the Salvation Army food pantry served:

  • Average of 396 households per month (409 in 2024)
  • Average of 1,146 individuals per month (1,274 in 2024)
  • 11,159 food boxes distributed (11,550 in 2024)
  • 31,352 duplicated individuals served (32,240 in 2024)

At the Kernersville location of the Salvation Army, Kernersville Foundation funds specifically:

  • Supported the salaries of two part-time food pantry drivers who assist with daily pantry operations and nearly daily food rescue pickups from six local grocery stores. These drivers are essential to maintaining a fresh food supply and operational continuity.
  • Some of the dollars went to the purchase of food that supplemented donated inventory to ensure adequate distribution levels.
  • Foundation support allowed the Salvation Army to rent trucks to transport TEFAP food from the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, significantly increasing available inventory.
  • A small amount of Kernersville Foundation support was used for the purpose of cleaning supplies to keep the food pantry clean, and facility Improvements (PVC Flooring Tiles) to improve sanitation, safety, and ease of cleaning in a high-traffic distribution environment.
